Buy Pearl Blueberry plants for sale at Advanced Nursery Growers in DeFuniak Springs, Florida. Pearl is a Southern highbush blueberry developed for the Gulf Coast and Southeast. It produces firm, sweet, light-blue berries earlier than most rabbiteye blueberries.

Plant Details:

  • Plant Type: Fruiting blueberry shrub
  • Botanical Name: Vaccinium hybrid ‘Pearl’
  • Blueberry Type: Southern highbush
  • Mature Size: Approximately 5–6 feet tall and 4–5 feet wide
  • Sun: Full sun
  • USDA Zones: Approximately 7–9
  • Chill Hours: Approximately 400–500 hours
  • Bloom/Harvest: Blooms in spring; early-season harvest varies by location and weather
  • Fruit: Firm, medium to large, light-blue berries with sweet flavor
  • Pollination: Plant with a different Southern highbush blueberry that blooms at the same time for improved fruit set and berry size
  • Soil/Water: Acidic, well-drained soil rich in organic matter; keep evenly moist without waterlogging the roots
  • Landscape Uses: Home orchards, edible landscapes, blueberry gardens, and large containers

Best Pollinator Partners:

  • Rebel: A documented pollinator for Pearl and a recommended partner from our selection.
  • Gupton: A strong partner; USDA trials observed Pearl and Gupton flowering during the same period.
  • Farthing: A compatible Southern highbush option when its bloom overlaps with Pearl.
  • Star, Santa Fe, and Dixieblue: Additional documented partners where available.

Bloom timing can shift with winter and spring weather. Plant at least one different Southern highbush variety nearby so bees can move between the flowers. Do not rely on rabbiteye varieties such as Premier, Climax, Brightwell, Powderblue, or Tifblue to pollinate Pearl. www.advancednurserygrowers.com

North Florida Growing Note: Pearl’s chill requirement suits much of the Florida Panhandle. Plant in acidic soil with excellent drainage, and protect open flowers when a late freeze is forecast.
